Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Articles sent to the editor of El-Hikam must comply with the technical provisions as follows:

A. The script was written 1.5 spaced on A4 size paper. Long written between 15 and 25 pages, equivalent to 7000-10000 words.

B. Organization of writing include the title, author's name, institution the author, e-mail address, abstract (maximum 150 words), introduction, discussion, conclusion, and bibliography.

C. Each term local or foreign words in italics, and for the Arabic words should be transliterated according to the guidelines. (See guidelines transliteration)

D. Writing referral made using footnotes with the following rules:

1. Book: Tahir Mahmood, Family Law in Islamic Countries: History, Text, and Comparative Analysis, (New Delhi: Academy of Law and Religion, 1987), p.77.

2. Translate: Bobbi DePorter and Mike Hercacki, Quantum Learning: Membiasakan Belajar Nyaman dan Menyenangkan, translation Alwiyah Abdurrahman, (Bandung: Kaifa Publishers, 2000), Second printing, p.17.

10. When citing the same reference sequentially, simply write: ibid. If different pages, simply add page numbers: ibid., p.14.

11. When the reference quoted later by one or more different references, please write the name of the author, a shortened form of reference, and the pages cited. Example: Tahir Mahmood, Family Law ..., p.79.

E. Writing a bibliography follow the rules footnote, unless called the last name (surname) writer for the author's name and page number and sign the book closed parentheses omitted. Example: Tahir Mahmood, Family Law in Islamic Countries: History, Text, and Comparative Analysis, New Delhi: Academy of Law and Religion, 1987

Proposed Policy for Journals That Offer Open Access
    Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
